Codmate is located in the very heart of Chatham and just a stone's throw away from the Great Lines Heritage Park. While the restaurant specialises in fish dishes, its menu also offers pork and chicken.
The food here was very good but, if you go, be aware they don't open their doors until 12.30 which seemed a little silly to me and my friends as (i) they must miss a lot of customers that have early lunch breaks from work and (ii) miss all those that might want a coffee about 11.00-ish and would then possibly stay and have lunch if they like the look of the place. I haven't been to this restaurant for several years and it is vastly changed; now being much smaller than it was and with not many people about when we arrived, we were a bit concerned as to what the food would be like but we need not have been as it was fine. I suggest the owners look at longer opening hours to draw in more customers. Some more people did start to arrive before we left but for some time there was more staff than people!
