Nestled within the Durham Dales, Killhope Mining Museum is a historic lead mine presented in its Victorian state. A functioning waterwheel pumps 250 litres per minute, and guided tours take in the depths of the mine. A gift shop and cafe feature on site, and regular events include demonstrations of blacksmithery, as well as themed days for schools. Those wshing to stay the night can snap up accommodation in a wooden yurt, which sleeps up to fifteen.
