For the past 30 years, the team at Toby Carvery have been on a mission to bring British roast dinners nationwide. All meat is sourced from UK grass-fed or free-range farms that meet Red Tractor standards. Every day, each Toby Carvery restaurant lays on a family-sized feast. Tender, slow-cooked meats, eight lots of freshly-prepared veggies, including crispy, ruffled roasties, and freshly-made Yorkshires served crisp, fluffy and piping-hot. Vegetarian and vegan options are on the menu for those who leave meat off their plates, and a wide range of drinks can be paired with the dishes for a boosted indulgence. A kids menu and all-you-can-eat breakfasts are also available.
An excellent meal. Staff a bit preoccupied, but food is good.
Toby are at the better end of carveries home of overcooked, dry-under-lamps veg, skimped meat portions and lumpy gravy . . . They are generally passable if not fine dining.
We're happy to trust them as unlike a couple of other chains we've always had a passable to excellent meal, the staff seem to like looking after customers and prices of food and drink are reasonable.
Downsides are that they are popular, book on their website if possible, tend to be worn and threadbare if not recently refurbished and are cramped and unimaginative in layout and decor.
As usual my disabled friend was arranged for and the meal was a very good example of the genre!
It is great value for money
Carvers good but a separate area for children would give you a more peaceful meal. Love kids but when put without them like to enjoy a little peace
Plain flavorless food. Even the meats tasted of nothing.
Friendly staff. Varied selection of veg and moist turkey.
All was good should give a little more meats but still good
As carvery formats go this is a consistently better than average one.
Care was taken to provide a seat my disabled companion could get in and out of easily. The staff though harassed by a great rush of customers were coping well and remaining helpful and polite.
The kitchen staff had prepared vegetables with flair and extra touches out of the ordinary, the meat was fine and the Yorkshire puddings were exceptional.
Cleanliness of servery, seating areas, tables and cutlery etc. and toilets was good though the place was a little threadbare as a result of volume of custom.
Best to try to enquire for a quiet time as the only drawbacks would seem to be those resulting from overcrowding!
