From Our Editors

Stepping through the doors of Athelhampton, visitors get a taste of the 15th century as they are immersed in its majestic Tudor interior. Guests can explore the building's Great Chamber, library and wine cellar, or browse the artwork on display in the Marevna Gallery. Outside, a woodland landscape and natural river boundary frame the formal gardens, which were created in the late 19th century. As groups take a stroll in the direction of the historic dovecote, they will pass towering sculpted yew trees that line the Great Court, as well as the Corona, Topiary Pyramids and Octagonal Pond. A choice of dining venues are also available for those seeking refreshment.

Very enjoyable day out with interesting house and varied gardens. Only draw back was having to use Groupon who did there best to make booking difficult. An hour on the phone sorting out problems and probably an expensive call!. Will never use Groupon again.

Don't go too early for a cream tea as they won't serve until the lunch time rush is over even when you've booked for 2pm. Don't order your tea/coffee until cream tea arrives otherwise you won't have a drink with your cream tea! Remember the cream tea doesn't include anything other than a warm scone. We ordered a sandwich to go with it & they were delicious even though they were £6-£7 House & gardens peaceful & great to see the family who still live there out & about. Extremely good value for an afternoon out!

It was a good price but due to the weather unable to enjoy the garden. And so that price for just one scone and a cuppa seemed a lot

It's good that you can borrow a copy of the guide book for the house. Plenty of parking. We looked round the house first, then the gardens followed by the cream tea.
