First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.
Excellent brunch and service was very good too.
Really enjoyed the lovely selection for afternoon tea and the accompanying choice of hot chocolate, tea and coffees were very welcome.
Food was lovely and service excellent would definitely recommend it
Having.purchased a £19 vpucher for acternoon tea for two we were looking forward to enjpyinv their delights (always marvel at the aray of scrumptious looking.cakes in their windows. What a disappointment the afternoon tea was!
Sandwiches...literally a fingers width! Four each and tasty enough though.
Scones - 2 small ones each with cream or butter/jam. Again tasty.
A small selection of tiny cakes (nothing like the delights in the window!!) Tea or coffee.
To be fair I don't just think it's just this establishment that have jumped on the overpriced, not value for money afternoon tea band wagon. We've tried a few recently and none have been excellent. Think we'll stick to tea and a slice of cake of our choice in the future.
Was just a little disappointed, this time. Service was excellent, no problems there. It was quite busy, and obviously people were chatting, but why do they have to play music so loud. I adore frank Sinatra , but as background music, it was really difficult to carry on a conversation, especially if a person has hearing aids. The sandwiches were quite bland tasting, have def. had better ones for less cost elsewhere in Dundee. And the scones would have been lovely , buy why toast them? Scones are meant to be soft melt in mouth, not toasted like a tea cake. Cakes were brilliant. Good selection . Have been twice before but def not so thrilled this time.
Food was delicious and such a huge portion that I couldn't eat it all!
Great cakes great afternoon tea.
had to wait for a seat. waitress spilled cup of coffee all over table... which would've been ok but our scones were burnt (scandalous)
Lovely afternoon tea with free refills on coffee too!
Service was so bad had to wait ages to be served. Coffee came then 30 minutes later we had to ask where our food was. We then waited another 15 minutes then finally we ate.
