From Our Editors

Built by Lt. Cmdr. Roy Francis, The Wells & Walsingham Light Railway is among the longest 10¼" narrow gauge steam railways in the world. It has two Garratt locomotives called the Norfolk Hero and Norfolk Heroine. Passengers are invited to take a seat in enclosed, covered and open carriages, which take around 30 minutes to cover the distance from Wells to Walsingham or back. The train passes five bridges and lets visitors see some of the Norfolk countryside, with stops at Warham St Mary and Wighton. While in Walsingham, guests may take their time to visit the town's shops and restaurants. Driving experiences and group rides are also available.
