Boasting more than 20 locations nationwide, the chain was launched in 1989 in Richmond, London by Karen Jones and Roger Myers, foodies on a mission to recreate authentic French food and wine in a relaxed bistro-style setting. Café Rouge was awarded Best Food Quality and Taste 2018 by the MCA Eating Out Panel – a survey of 85,000 UK diners. The restaurant was inspired by a favourite hangout spot for Bridget and her friends from the novel Bridget Jones’s Diary. Today, the team at Café Rouge continue to recreate French classics, including steak frites, poulet Breton and confit de canard, as well as croques, salads and baguettes that can be enjoyed with a fine selection of French wines.

Food and cakes were lovely
But my only complaint was the hot sandwiches had to be the same for both customers and I was a vegetarian and my husband a meat eater
We had to wait 40 minutes for them to get permission for us to have half mushroom and half ham
We were told no as it’s thee pieces of bread shared between two so three squares each
So I would of had no sandwich after another 15 minutes the waitress said my husband could have four squares of ham and I could have two mushroom
Tbh at £24 for two I think that it should be four each anyway it’s only once slice of bread and two mushrooms
Afternoon teas are everywhere and are a lot better so I wouldn’t ret
