From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisan baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 multiple venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft patisseries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose leaf teas. Their specialties are artisan-baked croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato ice cream.

Service was painfully slow and the management during our stay needs to be revised. There was very long wait for a table and once shown to our table we had to wait 20 minutes before someone took our order. After a further 20 minutes pots of tea arrived and then a further 25 minutes before food arrived. The bread on some of the sandwiches was drying out and the scones were burned on the bottom and raw inside. At no time during our visit did we receive an apology for the long delays through our visit. This visit was infact part of a birthday treat from my husband which sadly turned out to be both frustating and disappointing

Whilst the afternoon tea was very good quality the service was extremely slow. The waiting staff were obviously embarrassed by the lack of speed and length of time, approximately 50 minutes from being seated, the food took to arrive from kitchen.

The place was busy & the tables were both cramped & dirty. The servers were ok but when I went up for a tea pot refill they just put hot water over the original teabags so it was undrinkable. It was not worth the money & didn't feel special.

Can get really busy so might have to queue. Food lovely, bit pricey but good if you get a Groupon voucher.
