From Our Editors

A Victorian military structure situated in the middle of the Solent, No Man’s Fort provides a distinctive and historical four-floor venue fit for holidays. Situated a mile from Portsmouth, the iconic and imposing structure served as a filming location for the 1972 Doctor Who serial The Sea Devils. The fort’s lighthouse benefits from far-reaching sea views and the contemporary, refurbished interior features a cabaret bar and laser battle arena. Accommodation is offered in nautically styled rooms fitted with modern amenities.

It was a lovely day and night a really great experience, the staff where very lovely and the rooms and beds where comfortable and clean, the food was average with some exceptions when it was truly lovely but in some areas it was weak but to be honest it was not worth a moan as the whole experience I would rate 8/10 and would recommend to any one it was good value for money as you get transfer, guided tour, champagne on arrival, lunch, afternoon tea, diner, very comfy bed for the night and breakfast, this was all a very good price! There is lots to do on board and you won't get bored, at times it was difficult to find staff and on our particular visit the fort was only half full which was lovely for us but if it was full I can imagine the staff would just be rushed of there feet and the service wouldn't be great so some patience would be required!

Enjoyable stay, but! Buffet lunch excellent ,afternoon tea!! a joke just a cup of tea you made yourself, no place to put teabags in should be made in a teapot and served to the guest. Evening meal ok, but very long wait for a cold starter(35mins) and the same between courses, not a very good menue, maybe a new chef or food manager

Fabulous time. Only quibble is that we reported the safe was locked and nothing was done so unable to use it.

There should be more water in the rooms and a small fridge as this water was a bit warn to drink. I would also recomend that more attention is paid to the food. The food was good but in this day of multi cultural diets and medical needs. There should be more attention to splitting off shelfish from other types of fish. pork should also be plated seperatly from other meats. The shef should also be aware that polenta with parmazane is not vegatarian as parmizane is a world heritage food and can not be made without renit, thus not making it vegaterian. My only other grumble was that the hot tubs were not hot enough until the evening making it impossible for everyone who wanted a dip, to have a go. These should have been put on ages in advance.
