From Our Editors

First opened its doors in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialties include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Very friendly and extremely helpful staff. We had a voucher for an all day brunch. We actually went to two retailers but they could not give us an all day brunch as they had no facilities to prepare hot food. At the Colchester store they prepared an afternoon tea instead. Although this wasn't what we purchased it was gorgeous and we were extremely satisfied.

Excellent food, we couldn't finish it so took some home 😂😂. Staff are fantastic and very friendly, my daughter has a nut allergy and they explained exactly which items contained them. Would definitely recommend and will visit again .

The place was dated. Toilets were dirty. Service was bad, Manager was good but the waitress didn't speak good English so didn't understand what we told her so got us the wrong order. Sandwiches had stale, dry bread. The overall experience was very basic. I love the PV cakes so thought that it would be a good experience. But was so disappointed.
