Initially concerned that our trip had not been added into the diary and no canoe was available however the proprietor made every attempt to accommodate us and we completed the trip in the afternoon but with Way-on-Wye up the road we have plenty to entertain ourselves with. The trip was lovely and relaxed with fantastic scenery all be it with an unexpected "dunk in the river" at the very end, perhaps we had run out of steam by then?

Amazing trip on the water but owner turned up 30 mins late and the equipment is in very poor condition. The one canoe had a hole in it!!! Other companies offer similar trips with a more proffesional approah.

We went as a family of four being fully aware of all previous comments. We decided to take the risk and went with no unrealistic expectations. Whilst we didn't use the campsite it was obvious it was run down but many people came and thanked and hugged Barbara on their departure - it probably is an acquired taste!!! We found Barbara to be informative and her manner might be seen as abrupt but in no way rude. We actually found her very pleasant and quirky. The canoeing itself was pleasant, with some small rapids in places, however at one point we did hit some strong currents and toppled our canoe. I found it quite alarming to be honest as I didn't bargain on the current being so strong and that the river would be so deep in places. As you can imagine being pulled down stream on a fast current with my 13 year old son and all our belongings with the canoe speeding past, in water way over our heads, it was a very frightening experience for about 15 minutes. Our canoe was very difficult to turn back over as it filled quickly with water. We did then topple the second canoe when attempting to get back in as well, so all 4 of us and the dog ended up in the water. The canoe did drift away some 200m with our belongings and my husband had to swim after it. The children thought this was the highlight of the day!!! My husband didn't feel we were in any real danger, however I can imagine if you were having to manage young children it would be very frightening. We did have a real laugh about it later and I would definitely give it another go. No one else in the party of 8 capsized, Barbara warned us where the rapids would be so I feel that maybe we didn't follow her advice properly. If considering doing this I would advise reading up on things like how to right a capsized canoe etc. We hired wet bags etc from Barbara as she advised this, so fortunately our possessions were all dry and intact once recovered!! When Barbara came to collect us she was concerned about us being wet and cold and said she had to take wet people back first as her van only has 7 seats. We didn't mind though as it was a warm day - but at least she showed concern. My advice - be well prepared and confident in the water and it can be a great experience.

As long as you are in holiday mode this deal is brilliant value for money. Some of the group were distressed at the laid back attitude to time as we were quite late in setting off. The set up is quite "basic" but H&S good, equipment sound and advise solid. Once on the river, this is an amazing experience. It took us 3.5 hours to complete the 8 miles at a leasurley pace with a picnic break on the way. We hardly saw any others on the river, a really peaceful experience with a couple of challenges on the minor Rapids. No need for concern , just enough to get a bit of a buzz from getting through dry. We loved the day and enjoyed a wellearned pint at the final destination whilst awaiting pick up back to our car.

Poorly organised waiting times long for an instructor who never showed up. Followed but being told to wear the life jacket underneath my coat, concerned we left without doing the day.

We paid for 4 packed lunches, but we didn't get any. The owner said she had flu so we didn't feel able to trouble her further.
