We were very impressed with Carlton Meres Country Park, and definately intend to go again. We have also recommended this site to our friends.

Really enjoyed our stay but staff must keep the toilets dry, very wet slippery floors are too dangerous. Toilet rolls need to be replaced regularly.and more rubbish collections. Looking forward to returning next summer. Keep up the hard work.

The park is delightful and has lots of potential. It is, however, very poorly 'managed' by the new management. They have absolutely no idea about customer care. Their attitude within the office is awful - and they had difficulty finding our reservation. They 'blamed' several situations on a previous member of staff who we had seen a couple of months previously - who we observed dealt with our booking in an efficient manner and was polite. Toilet tissue is rationed due to having great difficulty in getting it off the roll. Talking to other customers of the park - there was general dissatisfaction about the new management team.

Spent 7 days on site. During the week, it was a great site, but at the weekend staff levels dropped despite extra customers, and facilities struggled to keep up... Lack of loo rolls, dirty loo blocks, and rubbish overflowing at collection points attracting flies/wasps. Took the shine off an otherwise great break

Park was obviously in a state of transition and the owners seemed a bit flustered at times but once we got shown to where our actual pitch was (after 3 previous attempts) we found it to be a very nice secluded spot albeit a bit of a haven for wasps!! The facitlites at the park were second to none. They have obviously spent some money on the bar / restaurant area and the staff were friendly and polite. Swimming pool area was spotless (atill a few wasp issues) but great for the kids. Toilets / shower blocks could have done with cleaning maybe once more per day as they did get a bit grubby at times but mostly they were clean and tidy. Waste disposal area was the biggest problem i saw, dont know if there was / is an issue with the local council or something as the bins very rarely got emptied and the staff seemed to be taking it away in vans themselves at times. The mountain of rubbish which piled up at points did make washing your pots a bit of an task due to the smell and the wasps. Only other thing iwould say is that there seemed to be too many tents and tourers for the size of the park, maybe take a 3rd of the bookings away at any one time and the park would feel a lot more spacious and comfortable. Although it wasnt too bad in the camping field, the touring pitches didnt have room to swing a cat between them!! The lakes, holiday lodges and static caravans are on a lovely area and it was beautiful to have a walf round there and would be great for people wanting a tranquil fishing break. Overall though i would recommend the park as i think that once the new owners get the place up and running as they like all these minor problems will be ironed out and it will be a great place to holiday in a lovely part of the country.

Site is great - except the strange shower blocks, people need privacy. Put doors on the showers as it is really not family friendly without them.

Enjoyed the pool and walking round the lakes. Liked all the open green space. Did not like all the goose droppings.
