Shawsgate Vinyard is a couple of miles North of Framlingham in Suffolk in a very attractive location. They have a large area under cultivation, about 13 acres, with row upon row upon row of vines which the visitor can walk around, if they wish. As far as the actual afternoon tea is concerned all was well and both food and drink were very good. Service was efficient, however, what was a big disappointment for us was the venue in which the tea was served. There were a few outside tables and chairs but the day was too cold and windy for alfresco dining, so we were shown into a large uninviting, featureless marquee equipped with school dinner type tables and chairs. As previously mentioned, it was a windy day so, apart from the drafts blowing through the tent, our meal was accompanied with a great deal of noise as the roof and walls flapped about.
