Snug in the heart of Cumbria’s Eden Valley, The Royal Oak Appleby is a family run inn providing a rural retreat for guests. Retaining much of its old world charm, the historic market town of Appleby in Westmorland is overlooked by the Pennine range and is the ideal spot for visitors to take leisurely country or riverside walks. The town also has its very own 18-hole golf course, with rounds accompanied by verdant scenery of the surrounding countryside. Meanwhile, striking mountains and lakes can all be found just a 30-minute drive away at the Lake District National Park, and the historic Penrith town sits around 20 minutes away. In keeping with its 18th century origins, many of The Royal Oak’s bedrooms feature wood beams and exposed brick walls. Individually designed double, twin and family rooms are available, all kitted out with en suite facilities. Classic British pub food and local dishes are served in the rustic on-site restaurant, featuring cosy open fires, brick walls and wooden pews. Contemporary art, feature lights and mirrors bring the pub into the 21st century. The hotel welcomes well behaved dogs into many of the bedrooms. A pet friendly tap room and a special dog menu is also available to keep pooches happy. Upon arrival, each dog will receive a doggy treat pack, as well as the use of a food bowl and mat.
