From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Not worth the money, finger sandwiches with stale bread, perhaps from the day before and had been in the fridge, scones hard and unable to cut.The staff were helpful but all in all not a good experience.

It’s usually lovely, but we waited a while for the breakfast and it was cold! Poached eggs were rock hard and my friends fried eggs were hard and cold Maybe it’s because we were in London, we didn’t have time to wait so we just left it! Very disappointed

Went to Victoria Restaurant and it smelled of damp. Bread was a little stale. Had to keep asking for cream/jam as the portion size supplied was below par. No real attention to the table. Patisserie Valerie are usually OK but they are going down hill IMO.

Food was lovely, warm quiche & scones with delicious mini cakes BUT service wasn't up to the standard I expect from Pat. Val. We arrived at 2.30pm, finally got a seat after asking at 3pm and began eating at 4pm!! We were told they'd had a busy day but sorry thats no excuse. It took our waiter, Luke, 15 minutes to come & take our order for afternoon tea, then another 10 mins to bring drinks. He didn't show us the afto tea menu nor explain it was unlimited drinks nor let us know it would take 20 mins for the food to arrive! He also forgot a tap water ordered. He was pleasant enough but a bit more training is needed. We had to have a word 3 times with the manageress who finally smoothed things out and made the experience what it should be from a well known, quality high street eatery. Not a good show from this newly opened branch.
