Situated in Lewes, the Anne of Cleves House Museum is a restored historical building that formed part of Queen Anne's annulment settlement from King Henry VIII in 1541. Now serving as a museum, the house lets the guests explore how the Tudors and the Elizabethans lived, worked and spent their free time. Those willing to find out some more about the history of this picturesque location can combine their visit to the house with an entry to the Lewes Castle.

Very interesting insight into history and the way of life then. Helpful and friendly staff.

Visited during Easter hols - children loved dressing up in the costumes provided, really bought the house alive for them. The house is beautifully preserved (especially loved the kitchen and grinding the herbs). Also enjoyed the extra activities in the garden - wool-spinning, painting and sewing.

Very nice day out on a good deal with the castle as well and a coffee and cake.

The name is slightly spurious: Anne never lived there and may not have visited it. The property was given by Henry 8th as part of the annulment settlement. Having said that the house is a repository for an interesting collection of Tudor furniture and artefacts. Information is clearly presented and the atmospheric building is well worth a visit. Decent teashop as well!
