From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisan baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 multiple venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft patisseries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose leaf teas. Their specialties include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato ice cream.

I thought this would be a great birthday treat for my 81 year old friend. The little cakes and sandwiches were tasty but the atmosphere was a little run down & depressing. Even with a groupon the afternoon tea wasn't good value. I wouldn't bother going again.

The food was lovely but the service was apaulling. Waiting over half an hour for drinks to arrive. Asked for extra cream, that took 10 mins. When we ordered a refill we gave up waiting, as we were leaving the coffee was ready and the reason for delay was ÷ no clean plates. We requested the coffee be transfered to a take out cup. Very disappointed

Time on voucher said from 1pm but it is worth ringing if you would like to go earlier. Make sure you have plenty of time to sit and enjoy this treat.
