From Our Editors

First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Bought a voucher for a brunch for 2 with drinks. We both had a full English and a mug of tea and it was delicious. We visited the Queen Street, Cardiff branch of PV and the staff were lovely and welcoming. I would definitely go again. Very nice food served quickly.

We were welcomed as we walked in and the staff were polite and helpful. We had a all day breakfast which was ok, we have had better. I would not go back and pay the full price .

We had the all day brunch. Chose the meat breakfast. The coffee came too early so was cold before the meal came out. They didn’t have any mushrooms so offered a non meat extra. We chose poached egg. When it arrived it was all luke warm. We both tasted the sausage and it tasted as though it had gone ‘off’. My husband complained about it. We were again offered a meat free alternative. We had had enough by then. Didn’t want any more eggs or cold food. The girl came 3 times to ask if we were happy. We were not! Eventually we said perhaps a hot cup of coffee and then we would leave. This was a Groupin deal. If I had paid full price I would have been very annoyed. As it is we just won’t go back.
