Situated in the heart of Liverpool, Adelphi Hotel is an Edwardian-style building complete with chandeliers and marble halls. Dating back to 1914, the hotel combines vintage interiors with a contemporary gym and spa. It also has plenty to offer in the way of dining, with fine cuisine in the restaurant and more informal foodstuffs in the carvery and three bars.

The food was very good, the service was good, but surrounds were quite shabby and the tables were disgusting which spoilt the occasion which was a birthday treat. We will not be going back.

Staff are lovely and we have been there a few times but feel the afternoon tea has gone down- not as good as it used to be and not as good as other places we go to.

Hotel is ok but looks as if it needs a bit of TLC. The afternoon tea itself was fine though the coffee wasn't great. The service too was ok but we were sitting in one large room.

No one was around to welcome us so we had to go to reception who rang them. The prosecco was just put on the table unopened. Sandwiches were very poor. We had one triangle of preformed chicken one triangle of preformed beef and the rest were preformed ham and cheese. Cakes were very nice and bite size. Coffee was lovely even if it was served in a tea pot! Would not go back

we have been before and really enjoyed the afternoon tea experience but unfortunately on this occasion it was not the case. We waitress didnt' seem interested and we had to ask several times to check it was coming. She never came over at any time and asked if it was OK and the quality of the cakes and sandwiches wasnt great. there was no scones and had a layer of crisps on the stand. The sandwiches tasted stale and only had 2 varieties and the cakes were fresh.
