Drum Africa has been running since 2010 and offers a variety of drumming classes and workshops in South East London. They offer a drop-in class from 6:45pm every Tuesday, which is ideal for people of all ages and abilities. The main focus of the drop-in classes is Guinean and Ghanaian drumming, which includes singing. For the more experienced drummerers, Drum Africa offers an intermediate course from 8pm. Authentic African drums are available at the centre and can even be taken home for practice for a small fee. The website offers tuition videos so that those that are inspired by the African beats can improve their skills at home. The intermediate class also takes their rhythm on the road and regularly performs at events and festivals. Drum Africa runs workshops for schools, businesses, charities and one-off events. These workshops are designed to promote team building and self-discipline, all within a framework of fun and enjoyment. Workshops can be arranged for just one hour, or can be hired for an entire day, with each member having their own drum to explore the rhythms of traditional African music. The tutors are all experienced in working with schools all over the capital and have a good knowledge of the National Music Curriculum. All of Drum Africa's teachers are CRB checked, carry public liability insurance and are able to teach groups of up to 30 children at a time.
