First of all, the food WAS good. The place is lovely, there was a good selection of cakes and other food, the people seemed nice. So I would recommend going there. However, only if you don't have a Groupon.
First the guy accused me of trying to use an expired groupon, confronting me in the middle of the café, in front of everyone. The voucher was fine, a month to go, he just didn't read the date properly.
Second, when we left, he did apologise and explained that they are not offering groupons anymore, because they don't get anything out of it. That he only made 6 pounds from our visit and we basically ate for free. Fair enough, I understand how groupon works.
However, it looks like he doesn't really understand how it works on the other end. We often get groupons to try a place we haven't tried before and most of the times we went back, as fully paying customers, spreading the good word online, or recommending the place to friends.
Here, we won't be coming back, because it felt like I did something wrong, buying the voucher in the first place, and actually using it. I am pretty sure groupon's terms and conditions are presented up front, and complaining to clients who actually buy one is very unprofessional.
So yes, go for it, but if you want to be treated nicely, don't use the groupon, just exchange it for credit.
