The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is the UK's leading charity that is dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is a debilitating illness that can severely weaken the muscles, and it affects over 70,000 people in the UK alone. There are many different types of muscular dystrophy; each one affects a different muscle in the body. Most conditions are progressive and cause gradual weakening of the muscles. The onset of the disease can effect anyone at anytime in their life, whether it runs in the family or not. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is based in London and is an ideal place in which to receive advice and information regarding the disease. The experienced and highly knowledgeable staff at the charity are extremely happy to assist both sufferers of the disease and their carers. Unfortunately there are no efficient treatments for muscular dystrophy at the moment, but The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has been involved in the research of each of the conditions, and also carries out clinical trials. They have made significant progress since the charity began over 50 years ago. If the charity can continue with their research, there is likely to be effective treatments for the disease in the near future. Therefore the charity needs donations in order to carry out their work. Anybody can donate to the charity on their website or over the telephone; it is easy to donate as little as one pound, or set up a regular donation. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is leading the way for a cure to this terrible illness and any donation is always gratefully received.
