From Our Editors

Taking up residence within the stylish surroundings of St Paul’s Hotel, the Melody Restaurant is within easy reach of Hammersmith Apollo and Kensington Palace. Situated on the original site of St Paul’s School, the restaurant’s name derives from Warris Hussein’s classic 1971 film, which was shot at the same location. Floor-to-ceiling windows illuminate a light and open dining space furnished with a chandelier and other ornate details. From aromatic Mediterranean dishes to rustic Alpine fare, a fusion of modern European cuisine is prepared in the kitchen using seasonal and sustainable ingredients.

This was our second visit to The Melody restaurant for afternoon tea. Very attentive service, lovely afternoon tea. Champagne flowed very freely. This visit the sandwiches were open I personally preferred the finger sandwiches from our previous visit.

We had such a lovely time whiskey tasting there. We stayed over for dinner and the food and wine were amazing. The service was very good too.

Small and friendly restaurant, free flowing champagne, afternoon tea was good but we preferred the previous menu with finger sandwiches. Would visit again as staff very attentive and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Check the menu before booking. We wanted a traditional afternoon tea but instead of sandwich’s we received half toasted bread with either smoked bacon paste topped with a quarter of a boiled egg, cream cheese with a slither of smoked salmon and a pickled cucumber on top, and then tomato paste with slice carrot and beetroot on top. All in all very disappointing.
