Saltholme Wildlife Reserve lets visitors check out the diverse wildlife of Cumbria from the vantage point of various hides. It also features a visitor centre, an information centre, a large car park and a picnic area. A tearoom serves up breakfasts, meals and snacks made from locally-sourced ingredients where possible, and a shop stocks a host of bird-watching equipment, books and outdoor clothing. The wetland is home to various species of birds including water rails and yellow wagtails, each more or less prominent depending on the season. The centre hosts regular events including walks, guided ornithology sessions, members’ outings and talks.
