I sent them the below email and heard nothing back.
I hope my email reaches you well, I appreciate we haven’t spoken before. Having visited the Colour Unique Salon yesterday (Monday 2nd September) I felt obliged to provide you with feedback on my experience of visiting your newly opened salon within the Debenhams store.
My first contact with Colour Unique was when I had a phone call two weeks after my booking telling me that my appointment had been cancelled, when I protested saying that I had taken a half day off work and booked my hair extensions appointment around my visit to Colour Unique I was told the person on the other end of the phone would call back. She did, only to tell me she had managed to ‘squeeze’ me in and as a ‘compromise’ I would have to change the timing of my appointment. I really fail to see where Colour Unique was compromising here, it would seem I was the only one compromising to secure my appointment, I ended up having to reschedule my hair extensions appointment.
I arrived right on time for my appointment yesterday at 3pm and ended up not actually being properly seated and seen to until 3.45pm, there is no real issue here, I have been getting my hair done for many years so I understand how sometimes there can be a bit of a wait, that was not the issue.
I was sat down and hardly greeted by the hair stylist, she asked me ‘what do you want’. When I proceeded to tell her that I would like a few natural highlights to lift my brown hair. She barely listened, concerning me I asked the receptionist passing by ‘does she understand what I want’. The receptionist told me ‘yes she does, she is just bad at explaining herself’. Fine, she understood what I want, however she came back with a pot of bleach, I asked if I could have colour put on my hair instead of bleach and was told ‘we don’t have colours here, only bleach’. I have to say that is the strangest thing a hairdresser has said to me, what kind of salon only uses bleach? I wanted to make sure the hairdresser knew exactly what I wanted and as I started to re-explain, she rolled her eyes at me in the mirror and to be quite frank was very hostile towards me when I was explaining what I wanted. I was on the verge of getting up and out of my seat and I honestly wish that I had, how could I trust someone with my hair that was acting in such a hostile way, as if I was offending her by telling her what I wanted done to my hair.
After my foils had been taken out the ‘stylist’ (I use that term loosely) threw a colour sample book on my lap and told me to choose one as she turned her back to me to attend to someone else. When she came back I stated that she was the hair stylist and the expert, she should be able to advise me, I said that I wanted it to look natural. She snatched the book from under me and started mixing up the colour, as she came back I asked her what colour is that? I was met with the only answer ‘natural’. I asked her to show me the book and which colour she was matching it too. Again, met with extremely hostile rude behaviour, I found extremely odd. Had I offended her somehow by asking her what she was putting on my hair?
The results, less than average. I asked her so many times to keep close to my roots and she still didn’t listen, although my hair is finished I still have roots underneath – and it looks grey if anything! In case you are wondering, I did have a groupon voucher. The first and only voucher I will ever purchase from there again for a hair treatment. Had I been a full paying client there is no way I would pay towards the kind of treatment I received last night from the rudest most unprofessional hairdresser I have ever had the misfortune of doing my hair.
Without the hairdressers attitude, my first impressions of the salon were of a concern. Dirty cups and bags of rubbish literally everywhere, I felt dirty just sitting in the chair, not your usual feeling whilst sat in the chair of a newly opened salon. My biggest concern was the open ducts in the middle of the salon with several leads trailing out from. Any child could wonder in from the Debenhams store, or anyone within the salon could easily trip and injure themselves.
I am not the type of person to send an email like this usually, however my experience with the salon and that hairdresser was so appalling I felt the need to let you know.
