I bought this as an Xmas gift for my sister an her partner and they were totally distraught with the experience! I stayed here last year with my father and was very impressed,so decided to purchase the stay for my sister and partner. The stayed on dec 28th and were not welcomed and had to sleep in a freezing cold room due to the heating not being on. They had to wear their clothes in bed!! Then for breakfast they were told that all the could have was beans egg and toast, not the full English as promised! They then asked to speak to a manager, but were told there was only a chef working. After they got home, I tried to contact the Bartholomew arms twice by email, but had no response. I was very disappointed after I had such a nice stay, but even more so that I had no response. Some sort of feedback would be appreciated. It's such a shame as this was a gift and I feel very let down, regards dan horne

To have the option of breakfast brought to the room, as an extra, as we missed breakfast service.

Poor -upon arrival the room was freezing cold, we asked the staff if the heating would be on soon and they said yes but it never came on at all. Unfortunately I had been ill during our meal so had to return to room, the young waitress was very concerned as apparently I did look very ill but no one thought to knock the door and check if I was OK a bit later. Also apparently new chef, new menu so food was not as on website. Didn't have much choice on food disappointed as looked menu on web that day and choice was available. Breakfast was very limited as chef commented we are in luck he has two eggs so we can both have an egg with our breakfast! What if we wanted to have boiled eggs or pouched eggs there wouldn't have been another egg. Bowls were dirty and chipped, no sugar available so chef offered he sugar canister from kitchen. No heating again at breakfast so once again morning freezing in room and in restaurant. Also when leaving only chef available to check out, no bar staff or manager. Wanted to complain but because so ill, freezing and really disappointed with the break just wanted to get out of the place. Really poor customer services, not cosy but FREEZING COLD, not what we expected at all. We booked a month in advance so not just a last minute booking even so the pub should be able to accommodate guest correctly. Would never recommend to friends or family. I did call the Monday after and left a message to complain but no surprise I haven't had a call back, probably because no staff available to pick up the call!
