From Our Editors

First opened its doors in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialties include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

Visited the patisserie valarie in the royal exchange nottingham. I really enjoyed it.The staff made you feel really welcome and were very attentive. We had an afternoon tea for two and the selection was very good. Various sandwiches, four scones jam and cream and a selection of small cakes with tea and my friend had coffee. We didn't feel rushed and spent a couple of hours there enjoying the afternoon. And again compliments to the staff.

Service was really really slow. Asked for traditional afternoon tea and shown the menu then different things came on fillings and cake wise. Table dirty, seats not clean. Shame, it was a gift and a treat and something I was looking forward to! Would not buy again.

Awful went to the one in Debenhams on Oxford Street. Scones were dry not much cake choice and not enough clotted cream. Service was BAD!!! Cakes were not freshly made more like mass produced factory cakes. They too were dry and mediocre.
