From Our Editors

First opened in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisan baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 multiple venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with a 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft patisseries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose leaf teas. Their specialties include meticulously crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato ice cream.

We had a lovely afternoon tea here. We arrived just before 1pm to secure a table as we had a disabled guest and there are limited accessible tables in the Peterborough restaurant and you can't book on this deal. Service was super attentive and voucher process simple and straightforward. Good amount of food and split of savoury/sweet. Hadn't expected the deal to stretch past a standard tea and coffee but my Dad had two cappuccinos which he said were close to the best he'd ever had and they were constantly asking if we'd like more drinks. Would recommend!

Very good service, made sure we had everything we needed & topped up teapots as necessary. Made us feel welcome. Food very good too, plenty of variety in sandwiches & lovely scones & cakes.

They were unable to provide the Festive menu, which they said finished at the end of December, even though the voucher was valid to 28th February and for which we had paid extra. In lieu we were offered one large piece of gateau instead of a variety of small pieces and some hard almond-flavoured rounds to take away. We accepted this reluctantly to avoid further issue. On this occasion the service was slowest it's ever been, although I wouldn't say the café was full. The coffee/tea took ages to come and the eats later still. (The only plus point was that the lady waitress had a good nature). We - with our two friends - had asked to sit at our 'usual' table, but were advised it was reserved. It still hadn't been occupied nearly two hours later when we left. Further, on our last two visits, the finger sandwiches have been reduced in width to approx. half to two thirds the original size (and smaller than any we've ever had elsewhere). We won't be bothering with PV again in the foreseeable future.
