From Our Editors

First established in Soho in 1926, Patisserie Valerie follows artisanal baking traditions brought to London by Belgian-born Madam Valerie, whose mission was to introduce continental patisserie to the English. Now boasting over 120 venues nationwide, the company adorns its cafes with the 1950s-inspired decor and serves up an array of freshly-made cakes, craft pastries, breakfasts, lunches, coffees and loose-leaf teas. Their specialities include meticulously-crafted croissants and viennoiseries, as well as homemade Italian-style gelato.

The service was great though the food did take some time to arrive. When it did finally turn up it was such a disappointment- the mini quiches were over-cooked and like rubber and the scones so hard they had the texture of a biscuit. The cakes looked like they had been left out for some time and neither of us were tempted to try one. The sandwiches had also been left out as the bread had begun to harden. The unlimited hot drinks were however a real plus point - I had the hot chocolate which was delicious. Unfortunately they weren’t able to make up for the food and I won’t therefore be rushing back any time soon.

I’m sad to say that I was left feeling rather disappointed with this offer from groupon as I booked two sets of afternoon tea with fizz only to be told on the day that this patisserie Valerie wasn’t able to offer the fizz ok fine but I wasn’t even offer a little something extra to make up for not having the fizz so I ended up being out of pocket by £12

Was little dissapointing as the sandwiches didnt feel fresh...cakes were tiny, only 1 small pot of cream for 4 scones, also tiny. Plenty of tea and coffee tho.

Super friendly staff, very welcoming and the food was really tasty and fresh! Hot quiche and hot scones! Yum! They even let my son join in and have a hot chocolate for no extra charge which I thought was lovely. Would definitely return! We visited the Preston branch.

All the sandwiches were freshly made (and not the average egg mayo etc) They were delicious. Cakes were lovely, warm scones with six mini jans to choose from and a big bowl of clotted cream. warm mini quiche and as much tea and coffee as we wanted. Waitress was warm, friendly and polite. Doggie bag was supplied as couldn’t finish it all.
