Aberdeen Oktoberfest looks to recreate all the fun of Germany's famous beverage-based celebration. The event takes place at Mercat Cross, featuring Oktoberfest beer, as well as all sorts of hearty food and live music adding to the atmosphere. The standard entry package includes a half-pint of German beer each, as well as crisps and a Bavarian sausage with fries
Initially this was good, lovely Bratwurst sausage and did not have to wat/queue too long for drinks. There was only one beer to try and one cider which was a popular british cider from a can. The music/entertainment was good while it was playing and the entertainers engaged the crowd with fun and what I gues was typical German Oktoberfest cheering, unfortunately while the background music was just Brit Pop, so not very German at all. It was good to try it, but would not want to do it again, the overall ambiance was more like village hall party than what I would have expected from a world renowned beer festival.
It was just a tent with a band, but no real other activity. Hoped for some stalls or a market alongside it, but alas. We left within 2 hours.
