From Our Editors

An array of sweeping natural sights can be soaked in by guests at Hawkstone Park and Follies. Young and old can take in architecture such as the 18th-century urn, the Swiss Bridge that crosses a deep gulf, and the 100-foot monument, allowing for unimpeded views over the grounds. Geological treats abound, including the Grotto, which features a network of underground caves, passageways and chambers, and Reynard's Walk, featuring sandstone faces and sand dunes. Adventurers can spot plenty of plants and animals as they stroll around, ranging from the predatory kestrel, Canada geese and stoats, to yews, bluebells, and rhododendrons at a specially formed garden. They can take their pick from four trails ranging from one to three hours long, and are free to bring along dogs on a lead. Legs can be rested at the on-site cafe, and the park allows for easy access with free parking.

Great day out - take a picnic, plenty of drinks and a couple of torches Lovely walk with caves and some great rock formations We do it pretty much every year Love the giant chair above the caves and what I think are the fairy homes (like little bird boxes) Last time we saw Peregrine Falcon babies on the rocks by the awful precipice This time we went with my daughter's cousins from Holland and my husband's cousin and son from Canada !

Great experience for our 6 and 8 year old. Really enjoyed the enchanted trail and it kept the kids going. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff very friendly too.

Really enjoyed visit, more work had been carried out to expand route and park staff were excellent. BUT.... Avoid the cafe at the entrance- some food was stale, wait was too long and some parts of order came 25 mins after the first parts of order. If the cafe had been very busy it might have gone some way to explain situation, children’s drink came 20 mins before their brownie and slice of cake and in spite of advertising variety of latte coffee we were told there were no syrups available. Not good

We went with our 5 year old grandson and he loved it. I would recommend walking Boots or good trainers or shoes with a good grip as some of the steps are tricky. I would recommend you take a torch for the caves. There are plenty of picnic tables/benches dotted around it which enables you to bring your own food and drink if you wish. However there is a cafe at the start of the walk and an icelolly cabin and toilets at around the half way point. There was also a dog bowl with water tap...which was so useful for our dog. Would definately go again. Especially as it's dog friendly!
