From Our Editors

The horticultural labour of love of Ray and Shirley Clemo, who travelled far and wide to collect the necessary seeds, Cornwall's Pinetum Park and Pine Lodge Gardens shows off the verdant beauty of flora in a range of settings. The four-acre Pinetum features an amphitheatre arrangement full of conifer trees, and the Japanese Skakkei Garden takes its inspiration from Kyoto with traditional flowers and a summer house. The Sunken Garden boasts a range of scented South African plants plus a seating area, while the Cottage Garden features Daphne trees and statues. Wildlife can be found in the form of black swans at the lake, koi carp and goldfish at the Top Garden's pond, and frogs and dragonflies at the Water Garden. Guests can indulge in homemade cakes at the Courtyard's Tea Shoppe for a supplement, and pop into the farm shop to check out their locally-sourced meat and jam.

A nice escape to tranquility.. doesn't take ages and ages to walk around, plenty of benches to sit down and take in the beautiful views. Some areas unsuitable for those with walking issues but clearly marked with warning signs. Quaint tea shop.. cream tea was nice and able to take our dog in with us. Nice array of garden plants for sale.. just a very well presented little heaven in Cornwall
