Located in Rochester, Eastgate House is a Grade I listed Elizabethan townhouse built in the 1590s for Sir Peter Buck, Mayor of Medway and Clerk of the Cheque at Chatham Dockyard. After serving as a house for five generations of Buck family and others it became a Victorian boarding school for girls. Now, famous for its association with author Charles Dickens it holds a Dickens Museum. Its grounds contain the Swiss chalet in which the author penned several of his novels.
