From Our Editors

The Apsley Paper Trail charity runs Frogmore Mill, the world's oldest mechanised paper mill and keeps it open for guests to have a guided tour and learn about its history. The mill's crucial place in Britain's industrial revolution, and the subsequent democratisation of paper and the written word, should interest any history buff, and visitors can even get a little hands on with paper-making or printing. After they have learned about the paper making process, visitors can take some time out in the on-site café.

My children (14 and 7 yrs) and I really enjoyed our time there. We were part of a tour and my son got to help make some paper. I really hope that this wonderful piece of history is restored (the machines that are no longer working) and that people for many years to come would continue to visit and enjoy them.

Very interesting tour, maybe about 15 mins too long for a very cold day as the furthest reaches if the factory were very cold

Such a pity that you're not better known. It was only through Groupon that we heard about you, so definitely a good idea!

Could do with cleaning up a bit in the unused areas. Not sure what the war display had to do with anything, would be better to spend money on restoring machinery. Interesting though!

It was difficult to hear the presenter and the tour was too technical for younger guests (mine are 9 and 12) and didnt understand much of what was said. The paper making was enjoyable though.
