From Our Editors
A winner of an AA Rosette, The Crown and Victoria is a traditional, British country pub. Customers can enjoy a view of a sweeping garden and willow trees while indulging in a selection of local ales in the restaurant's beer garden. The kitchen tries to keep things local, serving up classics like fish and chips, sausages and mash, alongside burgers and steaks. They also offer a function room hire for visitors wanting to privately celebrate important events.
This country village pub, serving an excellent choice of real ale and real home-made food, is fab. Best “local” I’ve been to in the last 30 years.... I just wish it were near enough to our home in Exmouthto be our “local”.
From phoning to book (lovely friendly lady, thank you), pulling up in the large level carpark, walking into the immaculately clean restaurant lounge/using the toilets that were clean enough to eat in, getting good recommendations from the nice lady behind the bar.... then a short wait for courteous smiley service.... it was faultless. I just wish I knew their cleaners; I’d employ them tomorrow!
The food was beautifully presented, fresh local produce. Decent quantities that just left me wishing I had space for a home-made-pudd. The restaurant-lounge was a charming place to eat; local pictures, an amazing Lego/model display, and leaflets about lots of local events.
Would we go again? Too right we would! These owner managers have got it 100% right. We WILL be returning as soon as we can justify a four hour round trip.
Thank you for a lovely evening at the start of a wet miserable Bank Holiday weekend. You have been the highlight of our holiday.
Be prepared for a long wait for food orders
A good meal, although expensive at regular prices. Slow service. Very pleasant surroundings with a lovely garden. Convenient for visiting Tintinhull NT Gardens.
The food was from what appeared to be a special menu for groupon users.
The steak at the time of buying the offer was advertised at £20.95 on the internet which was within the purchase allowance. The price has increased to £21.95 but rather than a £1 premium you are charged £5 - an unfair pricing which groupon should question.
Portions were small and two selections were not available.
The Crown and Victoria have given an offer but catered down to a price whereas some offers enable you to have anything available within the price allowance.
I will not be rushing back!!!!
Don't choose the fish & chips !!
The menu was very limited and when my meal did arrive I couldn't eat it. Unfortunately it smelt and tasted of vomit and wasn't cooked correctly. It was a huge disappointment, but would have been more so if i'd had to pay full price!
Nice location and inside...okay food.
Lots of pork dishes on the menu,.
Excellent food and good service. Very nice fish cake starter and the main of roast beef was extremely tender
Warm welcome and very enjoyable meal.
