The Ghost Creeper is instantly recognisable by his top hat and Dickensian overcoat. Played by performer Gary Goldthorpe, the Creeper is a storyteller who frequently spooks audiences with new stories and facts. He takes visitors on an 75-minute tour through York, setting off at 7.30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Coppergate Walk, outside Jorvik Viking Centre. Private group bookings can be arranged for alternative times.

The Ghost Creeper's tour was injected with a touch of theatrical humour along with the interesting facts about the ghostly history of lovely York, and encouraged audience participation. Was quite fast-paced walking at times though and whilst not an issue for us, it could be difficult for some to keep up.

Good length of walk. Good historical info and story detail.A nice finish at La Cremeria (best ice cream ever!) with discount. Overall an excellent job.

His introduction was - It might be expected that we get things thrown or shouted at us...due to a court case over a 15 year old girl that was resolved on Wednesday! When researching this..it has not been resolved yet and felt pretty disgusted that he is still allowed to take this tour. Is he even DBS checked!? Very disappointed as this was a gift that turned out to be awkward and embarrassing.

Our ghost creeper was Gary. He arrived all in black, wearing a top hat and sporting a walking stick/cane. Be prepared to do some walking, the tour lasts about an hour and a quarter. We were taken on a tour of some fascinating historical places with a ghost 'theme' but more of historical events. We found this much more to our liking. Gary was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with his stories. For example did you know that the hangings in York took place outside Marks and Spencer's! There were about a dozen people in our group which I think is a good number, we were all able to hear him ok. We had a thoroughly good evening and would certainly recommend this tour.

Was really good and enjoyed the atmosphere that the Ghost Creeper protrayed however I think it would have been better if it was more historical rather than just ghost stories.
