From Our Editors

Ryedale Folk Museum features cottage gardens, traditional cornfield and atmospheric historic dwellings from prehistory to the 1950s, including an Iron Age roundhouse and a Tudor manor house. Some of the structures were saved from demolition and rebuilt by volunteers, while other have been recreated from the ground up. The buildings house period-specific collections assembled over the last five decades, attempting to show how people lived, worked and played in the past. To enhance the experience, the facility also offers activities such as Victorian toy making or countryside craft workshops.

Fantastic day out - especially if the weather is as good as it was for us. Really interesting and child friendly.

Lots to see, about life in the early 20th century, in North Yorkshire. Flat shoes are recommended, as it is a grassy area. Very pleasant staff.

Such a beautiful place. Lots to see and educational both for young and old. The people are so nice and friendly. We need to go back as there was not enough time for us to take in everything.

I bought the Groupon voucher £10 as valued at £15. On arrival we were told that the Groupon is not the sane as paying on the day so the perk is not ... it took 3 months to try and probe a case in that the voucher is a discounted scheme but the buyer should be entitled to the same as paying £15. The museum refused that and the Commercial Manager was unmovanble, even when I said she should make this clear on the Groupon voucher and in the advertising on Groupon and she blamed Groupon for that ... back to the review would I pay £15 ?? definate just not ! Overpriced ! Even at £10 ... o got fed up seeing lottery funded and could not see where it spent ! Probable sane as other charities in that the inflated entry charges are to pay inflated wages for the management ! Like the commercial manager ! The staff seemed nice and I believe volunteers so well done ..we was told need 4 hours then told 1.5 and found 1.5 more than enough to see what you see .. if weather good it could be pleasant visit .. places for flask and sandwich picnic ... but I struggle with ignorant and unmovable attitude and a lack of customer focus but hey it's a charity are they bothered they get paid at their level ... would I recommend ? No.

We visited Ryedale museum on a beautiful spring day last Thursday and spent a leisurely hour & half wandering through it. It was interesting to see how people lived and worked in the 18/19th century. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is interested in history. We also had a lovely lunch in the nearby tea rooms.

Had a great visit. We spent hours there as there is so much to see. Will go back later in the season when they have events happening.
