From Our Editors

Designed to be a relaxed and friendly hang-out space, The Purple Partridge is a family-run cafe and shop in Raskelf, on the outskirts of York. The eatery strives to use locally-sourced and sustainable ingredients where possible in its array of home-cooked food, including burgers, breakfasts, pulled pork and cakes. Owners Liz and Wayne Westmoreland also run a top-up shop featuring home essentials, locally-produced jams and chutneys, and rare-breed meats. The interior is bright and airy, with pastel colours and plenty of spacing, and features disabled access plus a children’s play area.

I did not think the advertised deal was fulfilled or appropriately represented. On the picture it was pulled pork in a bun. I received chips with pulled pork on topped with sauce and cheese. I re-read my purchase and realised it did not mention bun however this was what was in picture. It also mentioned salad and coleslaw which we did not receive. The food was nice but I would not of been happy paying full price for what I'd got. I debated mentioning this at the time, but was not asked if everything was ok after my meal was served. Not having a set childrens menu made additionally ordering difficult and I ended up paying £5 for half a burger and chips x 2 for my children. Normally when eating out you would get a meal deal for this. My 7year old was still very hungry after his meal. Was disappointed as there was a lot of potential.
