The experience was horrific. The hairdresser has a terrible backlog in her schedule, which she’s unapologetic about. She isn’t apologetic about much, to be honest.
I asked for a simple U-shaped cut on my straight hair, specifically confirming I don’t want to lose any of the length at the back.
The hairdresser didn’t want to admit her unprofessionalism so she used some weird technique with my head upside down, brushing all my hair into a ponytail, in the end just suddenly chopping few inches off, never confirming about it with me, and not knowing if she cuts the main length at the back. Because obviously you can’t see it when you cut it in a ponytail.
I was visibly upset. I was trying a few times to squeeze a remark about the length but she avoided eye contact and just proceeded fixing something up. She just kept to herself while I kept asking if she just cut off the length. She casually said “It’s okay, you still have long hair”. Well it’s up to me to decide how long I wanted it to stay.
I decided I won’t let her finish my cut, nor allow her to cut my bangs.
Because of the backlog there was already another customer coming in, and it seemed like the hairdresser just couldn’t wait for me to go. She rushed me to be pleased with a result as she was putting a mirror in my hands and asking many times if it’s okay, while ignoring my remarks that I just need a couple more seconds to decide if we need to fix something. It’s just mind blowing that you pay money for the service and get rushed instead of being listened to.
When I was trying to interrupt her about my result, she declined and blamed everything on me stating I asked for something very specialised. I said I thought it’s easy to do, so she didn’t lose the opportunity to brag that it’s easy for me to say, but for a professional like her - it’s a real challenge.
She also dried my hair for about 5% and my hair was soaking wet so I just asked if I could use the drier to dry my hair myself while she was already tending to the next customer, never asking me if I liked the result. She never helped me with getting my jacket.
After that, I went straight to another salon and happily paid three times more than this voucher only to have it cut by a professional. By the way we had a good laugh in this salon as a hairdresser who was fixing the damage told me there’s nothing specialised about a rounded cut and the technique that was used is way too risky to see what you’re cutting.
Overall a haircut Ana at Aspects was the worst experience in hairdressing in my life.
