Thai curry is famous for its red and green signalling device that often leaves diners unsure if they are cumin or going. Satay put with today's Groupon: £18 instead of £46.20 for a three course meal and a soft drink for two people at Mai Thai Restaurant.
This long-standing asset to city eating is housed in one of Bath's grand stone buildings and brings together cooking traditions from all over Asia in a celebration of spices to warm seasoned palates with silky marinades and piquant pastes. Fresh food is served under the traditional décor of Hindu deities and a landscape frieze, while staff are dressed to match in robes adorned with golden embroidery. Classic sweet and sour dishes together with noodles and red and green Thai curries are only the beginning of an extensive menu encompassing beef, pork, duck, chicken and an excellent range of deep-fried or stir-fried seafood. Many dishes are cooked with authentic combinations of chilli, coriander, ginger and tamarind, some with a splash of coconut milk or stewed with lemongrass and basil leaf.
Groupon holders can pad down to Mai Thai and enjoy a three course meal for two people with a soft drink each (£2.60). Diners can choose from starters like Thai dumplings (£4.95) or deep-fried king prawns with chilli sauce (£5.95) and then move on to mains such as beef stir-fried with asparagus in oyster sauce (£8.50) or roast duck red curry (£8.25). Each dish will be accompanied by a side of rice (£2.80), and rounded off with a traditional Thai pudding (£3.25) before guests bamboo shoot into the night.

The restaurant has been widely reviewed, with particular mention coming in for the spicy soup. TripAdvisor users gave an average score of 3.5 out of five, whilst Yelp reviewers also commented favourably and scored Mai Thai four stars.
My fiend [sic] and I visited here for an evening meal and were not disappointed. The service was superb from the moment we entered to the time we left. Friendly, attentive but never overbearing. The food was hot fresh [sic] and very tasty. I had the chicken satay to start, which was delicious, but I wish I had ordered one of the Thai soups, as my companions' was the best I have ever tasted.

Probably the best Thai restaurant in all of Bath, with the typical Thai friendliness, service and amazing food. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the spicy soups are a delight and I always start my Mai Thai experience off in this way, before moving on to a delicious green curry of noodle-based dish.[sic]
