This place was good value for money considering the glass of bubbly and a long treatment for 2, but the cleanliness of the place was disappointing and the service even more so. I was told our treatments would take place at 4.30 and so arrived at around 2.35 to allow ourselves to check in and change before our 90 minute spa access. I was then told that we had treatments booked for 4.00 which could not be changed. I was told it was always booked for 4.00 and I would not have been told the booking was for 4.30, although I’m not too sure how this guarantee could be made. We therefore had half an hour less than paid for and staff could not have cared less. The standard of service from start to finish was poor. We got out glass of bubbly at 3.59, leaving us a minute to quickly drink it before going for our treatments; I had to find someone to ask to refill tissue in the toilets and wet suit bags as both were empty; to top it off, we were rushed out of the massage room because the masseuse ‘needed the room’. Talk about a relaxing experience… On top of the misinformation about bookings and the poor customer service, the changing rooms were filthy and the spa area was messy. The changing rooms had hair and rubbish all over the floor and every seat in the spa had a towel on it, despite there being no one else in the spa at the time - they clearly had not been cleaned away after the last clients. Overall, I was very disappointed in the spa and would recommend choosing another.

My friend and I spent a such relaxing afternoon at the Montcalm Spa. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The package with spa access, massage and a glass of fizz is a great deal. We’d highly recommend the deep tissue massage if you’ve had a stressful week. The changing room can get a little crowded when there’s a few people in there but otherwise extremely satisfied customers. Would definitely go again.

I’ll start by saying the massage was incredible. That being said my 1 star goes towards the cleanliness because it was truly horrendous. My massage table face hole had mould. The ceilings had mould. The spa room itself had yellow tiles and wasn’t clean. Only 2 of the lockers in the mens room worked so it was lucky someone was leaving so we could use that one as there was 2 of us. Wasted 20 minutes of our booking over that. Shame because again the massage was amazing I just don’t do unhygienic practises.
