Teams can explore Bristol while using an app to follow a storyline and work together to solve puzzles
What You'll Get
What’s included: interactive puzzle hunt for two to five players
What is it?
A puzzle hunt is a cross between an escape game and treasure hunt. Teams use an app to follow the storyline and solve puzzles.
Brunel has left his treasure for those who can solve a series of puzzles that will lead to its location. The riches have remained hidden for over a century, but Professor Hunt has now reached further than anyone before. Unfortunately, he is now trapped in an underground crypt which is filled with puzzles. Hunt needs help to solve them in order to figure out the location of the treasure and escape. Players have to go to various points around the Old City and Harbourside, look out for clues and help to solve the puzzles.
Hints are available to ensure that every team will finish the game.
The two-mile route begins and ends in Queen Square. The game lasts about three hours, depending on how many coffee stops and detours the players take. The tour passes a number of tourist attractions, including The SS Great Britain, The M Shed, St Nicholas Market, We The Curious and Bristol Cathedral. Players can split the game and play over multiple days.
Each team consists of two to five players. Multiple teams can compete simultaneously. Players can view the progress of other teams in real time.
The game is self-led, so players can start and finish whenever they want.
The Fine Print
Expires 31 Jan 2021. Limit 1 per 2-5 people, may buy 24 additional as gifts. Booking required; visit https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.huntergam.app to download the app from Google Play or https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hunter-games/id1056828991?ls=1 to find it in App Store. Tap the + icon in the top right corner and input the code; the game will automatically download. Up to 5 players can repeat this process and join the team. To add multiple teams, please email email@example.com. Non-refundable once codes have been used in app. You will need a mobile phone with Android 4.4 or above or iOS 8.0 or above. The route has step-free access, although some old streets are cobbled and there is an incline and a decline, so assistance may be required. The majority of the route can be cycled. A short ferry crossing is taken across the harbour; this costs £1 per person. Payment can only be made in cash. The ferry operates Mon-Fri 7.30am-6.15pm, Sat-Sun 10.30am-5.30pm. The ferry is wheelchair- and bicycle-accessible but not mobility scooter-accessible. There is a 1.4mile detour around the harbour to avoid the ferry if needed; there are no puzzles on the detour so it only takes half an hour to walk. Please make sure phones are charged, have a mobile internet connection and GPS enabled. When you are ready, head to the centre of Queen Square in Bristol and start the game. If you want to catch the ferry, you should start the puzzle hunt no later than 4.45pm Mon-Fri and 4pm Sat-Sun. Road closures and building works do happen occasionally. The game is designed so this will cause minimal disruption and the game can still be completed. Before embarking on the puzzle hunt, please check if there are any major events or incidents in the area of the Old City and Harbourside. Each team consists of 2-5 players.
