Disappointed. Had high hopes from reading other reviews. Purchased the afternoon Tea. Description said it included tea, coffee and Prosecco. Owner disputed this. But that’s what the groupon said. Burgers were fine. However lamb burger was not to my taste. I couldn’t taste the mint that was advertised on the ingredients. Was a bit annoyed that the owner had the audacity to tell me that the chef said there was nothing wrong with it. We all have different tastes. I was merely making my opinion known as the customer. Chips were fine. Took the cakes home. Tried them there, they were not nice at all. At the restaurant I asked for pure orange juice as I am expecting. The owner said he didn’t have any but wouldn’t mind going to the shop next door to get some. I thought this was kind. He brought back pure orange juice ‘from concentrate.’ He tried so I’ll give him that. What irked me was the fact that when he brought me the glass of juice it was 1 sixth full. Such a tiny amount. I thought it was strange but drank it. Obviously 15 minutes later I asked for another considering the tiny amount given earlier. Now the bill arrives. I was expecting to pay extra for chips because that is not included on the groupon. But I was extremely disappointed to see that I had been charged £2.95 twice for the tiny bit of juice he gave me initially and then for my next glass. I thought the juice would be free since every afternoon tea comes with a drink and I am just swapping the Prosecco for juice. My husband had been charged £2.95 for a can of coke. £2.95 service charge. So on top of what I paid groupon, it was an additional nearly £20. I have never had an afternoon tea experience where I had to pay more that what I initially paid. Don’t want to be cynical but I feel like the owner knew what he was doing by giving me such a tiny bit of juice at first because clearly, I’d need more. Overall he’s a businessman so knows exactly how to get more money out of his customers. No hard feelings. All the best to him. Didn’t leave a tip since I feel I had been overcharged.
GO THERE IF YOU WANT A SPOILED EVENING AND READ THE GOOGLE REVIEWS REGARDING AFTERNOON TEA BEFORE BOOKING
Really lovely little joint. We loved the decor and music, food was good to and drinks and the owner was lovely.
I had the worst experience here. It was my first voucher and the owner of the restaurant was so rude to me . He said we are not earning enough with Groupon vouchers and we are not going to continue with Groupon and now i see that they have still the same deal running. Also he refused to give us a table to sit inside as he said he will only give me take away. I had kids with me and i felt so bad and i said i need to sit as the voucher says eat in or takeaway. So he finally gave us a table after 30 mins wait. We ordered kids drinks extra and he charged service charges to dine in £7. We paid £30 extra for drinks and dine in charge. Above all the way he treated us as we are eating for free was so disappointed. I will never ever go here and would not recommend this place.
Great experience. Location is right by the tube station and the roundhouse which is ideal. Great atmosphere inside, along with refreshing music playing throughout. The burgers was great and bottomless prosecco I couldn't complain about.
I will be returning.
