Still to use my groupon voucher but have booked for a weeks time... Had trouble trying to book for treatments, you just can't get through to speak to someone.. After lots of attempts sent email finally but was unable to have treatments together
Have been before, November last year, but the steam room was not working. Fingers crossed that when we attend this time all facilities will be available
My wife and I only went here because it was a Groupon deal and we shan’t be going again. There is ample free parking. The staff on reception could be more observant: they gave me a generous robe and my wife a skimpy one! Coffee in the downstairs cafe is under £3 but service is slow. The towels are quite large but too thin. Sandals are for hire is £3.50! When you hand in your keys, you get padlocks for lockers in the changing rooms. The locker I first chose wouldn’t lock but the next one did. The swimming pool is a generous 20m. It is 1.2m [4 feet] deep throughout and was being used by both mothers & tots and aquaerobic during our visit. At one end, one corner acts as a Jacuzzi and out and beyond, is a separate hot jacuzzi big enough for about 8 people. There is an outdoor hot tub that was only in sun by 1pm as it was January! There is steam room and a sauna if you like that sort of thing. There are reclining sunbeds on this sun terrace that isn’t in sun until 1pm, but the view is of a laburnum hedge with the car park beyond. There are no recliner beds by the swimming pool, but there is a quiet room, easily overlooked, as it simply has “Shhhh” on the door! Inside, there are half a dozen comfortable sofabeds, both single & double, that are about as difficult to get out of as a hammock! The lighting is tiny LEDs in the ceiling and so it’s a bit like being in a planetarium! You can either lie back in this darkened room and fall asleep listening to soothing music, or use the angle poise reading lamp above each sofa to read a book if you forgot your e-reader. The sofabeds are comfortable but it’s hard not to roll into the person next to you!! Lunch is upstairs in the restaurant. You are encouraged to wear your robe throughout, but we found it rather chilly and so had the mobile heater turned on. The lady ignored my request for a table below a light - so I could see I was eating, and made us sit at a tale for two, despite the fact that it was almost empty! I enjoyed my lasagne, but I object to having to pay a supplement of £1.95 for garlic bread, especially when there is nothing green with it! My wife enjoyed her Caesar salad, but again, £3.50 for a few slices of chicken breast is steep! And speaking of steep, £42 for a 25 minute massage is a rip off! But if included in the deal, beware that it actually is included; I thought I had – I even double-checked the Groupon website - and till got it wrong!
We would not choose to go there again: it is poor value for money at full price and hardly worth the petrol even if it’s a Groupon deal.
