An Evening with King Crimson
This year is somewhat special for King Crimson, the royalty of progressive rock, as it marks the 50th anniversary of their seminal album In the Court of the Crimson King, a mixture of jazz, classical and experimental music that influenced and, as some argue, transformed bands such as Yes and Genesis. Since its formation in 1968, King Crimson have had 12 studio albums and 22 members, undergoing numerous metamorphoses and venturing out into a panoply of musical genres, inspirations and instruments, from mellotron to the Indonesian gamelan. With three performances scheduled at the Royal Albert Hall, they pay tribute to their own legacy, taking a moment to appreciate their past before facing the creative challenges that await them in the years to come.
