What does a hair transplant involve?
Hair is taken from parts of the body where it is plentiful and repositioned in areas which are thinning or bald. The procedure involves the use of local anaesthetic before surgeons work with binocular stereo-microscopes to remove follicular cells, taking grafts of around one to four strands at a time.
What happens at the consultation?
The practitioner will discuss the treatment process and consider which areas can be treated. Both men and women are suitable for hair transplants, which can be performed on the scalp, eyebrows and chest.
What about aftercare?
The area of skin treated, as well as the surrounding area, will look red and swollen for a number of days after the session. This after-effect will gradually fade, and can be partly reduced through the use of massage and cooling.
