The topics covered at the session include husbandry, housing, diet and food preparation, weight control, training, falconry equipment and telemetry. Having acquired the basics of training and flying the birds, participants will have a chance to tie the falconer’s knot and fly some of the birds themselves under professional supervision.
Based at Byrkley Park Garden Centre, Hawksflight Falconry hosts a number of birds of prey and owls, and also offers bird encounters. Visitors to the centre can get up close to the birds, learn about their handling, and fly them to the gloved fist.
