Headed up by Anissa Helou, an internationally renowned middle eastern and north African food writer, Koshari Street brings Egyptian street food to London. For a healthy lunch or light dinner they offer fresh food using carefully sourced vegetarian ingredients. Guests can enjoy a large koshari (usually £7.75) or soup (£5) with a drink (£2.50). Koshari is a traditional Egyptian dish consisting of rice, lentils and vermicelli, topped with a spicy tomato sauce, chickpeas, doqqa and crispy onions.

Koshari Street puts an emphasis on well-sourced, healthy ingredients, boasting visits from both Time Out and The Guardian under their belts. They are transparent about the artisanal merchants from which they source their produce, including a Sicilian olive oil farm for rices and pulses, Tony Booth for vegetables and Neal’s Yard Dairy for their milk produce. Their central London shop is open Monday to Saturday 11am to 11pm.
Koshari has earned a very respectable 4/5 on TripAdvisor, while a couple of reviewers were slightly critical that it is not close enough to the traditional Egyptian dish, most were very happy with their meal and complimented the fact that it was healthy and satisfying.
