A registered charity that spreads its wings over 30 acres of Staffordshire countryside, Blackbrook Zoological Park soars high with one of the UK’s largest collections of birds, along with fluffy lemurs and plenty of reptiles. Opened 22 years ago, the centre has since sprouted beloved attractions such as the pelican cove and warty pig walk, while the penguin enclosure is complete with raised walkways and an underwater viewing cave.
Budding animal aficionados will be able to get up close and personal with furry friends, as they accompany a trained zookeeper into the enclosures, preparing to feed, clean, and handle certain critters. The experience allows younglings to fashion their own creative toy for a particular animal, before personally placing it inside their dwelling. Once they have had a taste of zoo life, and enjoyed a lunchbox of food, little keepers can take home a certificate, goody bag, and voucher for a free return visit, as well as precious memories of the many birds, mammals, reptiles and fish.
