Customer Reviews

After buying a voucher we checked the website and the food presentation looked fantastic. We couldn't wait to go, and decided to use this voucher to celebrate. We booked an uber which cost us £25 one way. Not eating all day so we could cope with the 5 courses, the groupon offer included a cocktail. They asked when we would like it and we chose to have it first. We thought we'd be able to sip it slowly, but they wouldn't serve the amuse-bouche until we'd emptied the glass. So 30mins later we had drunk our cocktails on an empty stomoch and were already getting tipsy. When seated, and before we got our cocktail we decided to treat ourselves and go for the pairing with the taster menu. We did this with the Mint and Mustard offer we also got from Groupon and that was truly amazing, but I wish the waitress had warned us about the amount of alcohol we were to consume or rather the lack of solids we were to eat. After a strong but amazing cocktail, we were given a glass of gin to accompany our amuse-bouche, followed a glass of port with our starter, a glass of white wine with our scallops, followed by red wine with our main and so on... I'm not use to mixing red and white, gin and port but at this stage I was too legless and my stomoch on fire. We were desperate for the main to arrive to line our tummies. At this point all the courses had been minute bit size. But when the main arrived we were presented with the smallest main course I have ever seen in all my was 3 bit sizes. We were so hungry after a 5 course meal, unless your a heavy drinker don't think about the pairing. In fairness to the place, the waitresses and bar staff we polite and friendly. The dishes were tasty and amazing presentation, just so very little of it. Its such a shame we got so little food against the strong drinks they paired you with, which cost us an extra £20 each. We were also a little confused if this place is a restaurant or a cocktail bar, as it seems to have plenty of seating for a restaurant, and the food quality excellent, yet they seem to promote the vast amount of selection of gins and great cocktails, but only a small amount of seating for drinking only. After spending an extra £90 on the night, was it worth it? Afraid not, my 3 stars goes to the amazing Chef and cocktail waiter - they are excellent in what they do, but the balance is so wrong...hic!!
